Zanewood Community STEAM School holds tree planting event

On Oct. 15, Zanewood Community STEAM School third grade students worked together to improve their school grounds with a tree planting event. 

In the week leading up to the tree planting, students engaged in several educational activities related to trees, such as learning about tree life cycles, tree rings and making tree cookies. 

On planting day, students were able to help with various tasks such as digging, readying the root ball for planting, filling dirt, watering and more. Great River Greening led the planting event, which is a nonprofit organization that seeks to inspire and lead local communities to care for the environment.
